The Lotus Tower is the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia. It has a height of 350 metres. Located on the waterfront of Beira Lake, this majestic tower is indeed enchanting. The tower is used for communication, observation as well as leisure activities in the city. The total floor area of the tower is 30,600 square metres. A number of tourist attractions are proposed to be housed within the majestic tower. The construction of the tower was funded by the EXIM Bank of the People’s Republic of China. The total cost of the project was estimated as $ 104.3 million. The tower was initially planned to be built in Peliyagoda, but the location was shifted to the commercial capital. Today, it is one of the most beautiful attractions in the city of Colombo.
