The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, which is popularly known as BMICH is an iconic landmark in the stylish city of Colombo. It is one of the most popular conference and event venues in the country. The expansive spaces of BMICH make it incredibly popular among the organizers of large events.
History
BMICH was a gift to Sri Lanka given by the People’s Republic of China. The venue was built as a tribute to S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike a former Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. The venue was named after him too. BMICH, which was built back in the year 1970, was the very first purpose built conference centre in Asia. Throughout the years countless local and international events have been held at this versatile venue.
The building was maintained in top notch condition since its inception. Throughout the years, several rounds of renovations were carried out onsite, enhancing the appeal of this place greatly. The Sirimavo Bandaranaike Exhibition Centre, which was built in the recent past, is a majestic 33,000 square feet venue, which is ideal for exhibitions and large scale events. The Mihilaka Medura, which is a charming eco auditorium with gorgeous greenery, is a fascinating addition to the building.
BMICH includes Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre, Main Conference and Concert Hall, Delegates Lounge and The Olympus (BCIS Auditorium). All of these event and conference venues are maintained to international standards.
BMICH offers ample space for parking too, so those who are accessing it will rarely be inconvenienced. The expansive grounds of the venue are well manicured, creating a space of regal splendour. Ponds and fountains that are located on the grounds make this place truly quite charming.
When you travel in Sri Lanka with Green Holiday Centre, you will be able to visit BMICH with immense ease. Guided tours in the premises can be arranged for those who are interested in learning more about this majestic destination.
